This is a first UK edition paperback. #245C in the White Circle Crime Club series. The title was first published in 1943 in hardback. The covers, which are generally grubby, are showing signs of wear. There are numerous chips/rubbing along the spine edges. This is a first Australian paperback edition. Heavy age tanning to pages making them rather brown but still eminently readable. The covers are showing signs of wear to the extremities: reading crease along front and back covers adjacent to the spine. Vertical crease down front cover and a light crease across the top left-hand corner of the rear cover and also one about 2 inches down.
