Comments & Further Information

This book club edition is in near fine condition. Some age tanning to pages. A nice clean copy. “My name is Benjamin Smoke. I’m a retired police lieutenant. I’m forty-eight years old. I’m six feet three inches tall. I do not have a private investigator’s licence and I never expected to apply for one. I have a permit for a .38 Detective’s Special, but I’ve never had to use the gun since I left the force. I also own a gold lieutenant’s shield, a personal retirement gift from the Chief of Detectives; I would rather part with my pistol and my shoes than that magic little shield.” This is the first case for Smoke. “Someone has stolen a corpose from Abner Boone, the undertaker. There can be only three motives, Smoke reflects, for stealing a corpose: love, money or lunacy…” IN STOCK FOR IMMEDIATE DESPATCH
