A first US edition hardback with a 1 to 9 number sequence indicating a first printing. Foxing to page edges. The dust jacket is complete and still shows the price, but is showing signs of wear to the extremities. It is a little grubby and there is some minor foxing to the top edge. This is Volume I (of a 10 volume series) of The Complete Stories of Theodore Sturgeon. Includes Forewords by Ray Bradbury, Arthur C Clarke and Gene Wolfe.
SYNOPSIS: “Volume I covers stories sent out to New York publishers between 1937 and 1940. Here is the earliest Sturgeon – callow yet insightful about people, able to write equally well in the voice of a woman or a man, with the certain bravado of youth shining through many of his leading characters.”
