Comments & Further Information

This book club edition is undated but is circa 1964. The book is in  good condition for its age. Bumped at head and tail of book spine and rubbing to boards. Foxing to top and leading edges of pages not affecting text. The dust jacket is complete but is showing signs of wear.  There are some nicks to the edges resulting in some small loss of the jacket and it is rubbed.  The spine of the dust jacket is faded and the whole jacket is grubby.

SYNOPSIS:  “Wheatley’s hero, Roger Brook is in almost constant peril and risks ruin and death for the love of a woman.  From the England of 1798 the reader accompanies Napoleon on his conquest of Egypt; then witness Nelson’s brilliant victory at the Battle of the Nile and finally Napoleon’s desperate gamble for supreme power.  Meanwhile Roger himself is in almost constant peril and driven crazy by his passion for the beautiful half-French, half-Turkish Zanthe, risks ruin and death.”
