Comments & Further Information

First American edition with a stated first edition. Rough cut leading edges, very common in American books. The book is in good condition for its age. The book is generally grubby (especially the rear panel of the dustjacket). The pages are tanned. The dustjacket is basically complete with just a few nicks missing at the edges but it is scuffed. Price still on dustjacket. Bumped at head and tail of book spine. The titles on the front board and spine are still bright (orange coloured) and clear. “At the turn of this century Harriet Morphew, fifty odd, is the head mistress of the Southern Female Academy. People in the sleepy little town of Morrisville think of her as the acme of gentility. To her school come the socially elect. No one dreams of her secret – half-bitter, half-sweet – which Harriet keeps hidden in her heart. No one can possibly forsee how another’s knowledge of that secret is to bring sorrow and ruin to her family.” IN STOCK FOR IMMEDIATE DEPATCH
