Comments & Further Information

Age tanning to pages. Cover a little grubby, but in very good condition for its age. Ellery Queen’s better judgement told him not to meddle in someone else’s marital mess. But Martha Lawrence and Dirk Lawrence both needed help badly. And anyway Ellery’s secretary, Nikki Porter, was in it up to the hilt. The scarlet letters were those of the alphabet, each one signifying an assignation between Martha and Van Harrison, the veteran actor with an impressive reputation as a lover and a list of ex-mistresses from the top of the social register. But murder interrupted the alphabet at W, and Ellery was forced to ponder why a dying man felt it so important to trace the letters X and Y in his own blood. IN STOCK READY FOR IMMEDIATE DESPATCH.
