Comments & Further Information

This is a book club edition.  Bump to head of book spine and to the top right-hand corner or rear board.  Age tanning to pages.  Small tear to leading edge of page121 and 123 and page 124 has some light staining.  The dust jacket is complete but is showing signs of wear to the extremities.  It is tanned internally and is generally grubby; especially the rear panel which also has some staining to the top edge.  The spine is faded at the top.

SYNOPSIS:  “Michael Faraday lives in a London that is at war. But it is not quite like London as we know it. Queen Victoria rides out from Buckingham Palace in a hovercar. Sir Winston Churchill is her Prime Minister. Over the force field that protects the city, Zeppelins and jet fighters and guided missiles are locked in combat.

There are two kinds of people in London: the fragiles and the drybones. The fragiles can bleed, the drybones cannot; Michael Faraday is a fragile. His friends are Ernest Rutherford, Horatio Nelson, Emily Bronte, Jane Austen.

Michael learns to read forbidden books, discovers that the Thames is not a river and that history has gone dreadfully wrong. Finally he discovers what has happened to mankind.”
