A first UK edition hardback. Author’s debut novel. The photos make the book appear brighter than it is.
Age tanning to pages. Foxing to page edges and to rear end paper. Very minor bump to head and tail of book spine. The dust jacket is virtually complete (small piece missing at base of spine) but is definitely showing its age, with some minor internal repairs and is generally rather grubby. The inside is tanned and there is some staining. Crease across the top right-hand corner of front panel and at top and bottom of spine. Rubbing to extremities.
SYNOPSIS: “Some years after the war, a man returns to the island off the coast of Brittany where in 1944 he was on the run from the German occupation forces.
At the time this Allied agent had little idea of the tragic events in which his presence involved the islanders.
Now, with the help of the village priest and other survivors, he gradually pieces together like a mosaic the plot and characters of the dram whose unwitting author he had been. ”
