Comments & Further Information

This is a reprint from 1961 in very good condition for its age. The book was first published in 1931. The covers are grubby and some minor creasing at the top and bottom of the front cover. Reading crease adjacent to book spine. Some chips and rubbing. Light tanning to pages. Some staining to bottom edges of pages not affecting pace faces. However, the book remains tightly bound and square. The Decameron – the first 40 novels completely unabridged. SYNOPSIS: “The time is the glittering, dazzling fourteenth century, the high noon of the Italian Renaissance. And the place is the Villa Di Poggio Gherardo on the hot slopes above the road to Settignano. It is an immortal spot, rendered so by the countless thousands who join in spirit that gay group beneath the shady trees of the garden. This is then the incomparable setting for the Decameron. It is a world of love and fortuitous circumstance peopled with an infinite variety of men and women.” The complete translation by J M Riggs. IN STOCK FOR IMMEDIATE DESPATCH
