A UK B format (130 x 198 mm) paperback.  The title was first published in Denmark in 1949 and then published by Dedalus in 1992 – this is a new edition from 2018.   Unread.  There is a quarter inch light crease across the top left-hand corner of the rear cover, caused in transit.

Translated by W Glyn Jones.

SYNOPSIS:  “The Black Cauldron is not a war novel as such, but a work of magic realism which traces a series of boisterous, tragi-comic events in one of the most unusual western European societies. Spanning the tragedy of war, the clash of sectarian interests, the interplay of religion and sex, The Black Cauldron develops into a presentation in mythical form of the conflict between life and death, good and evil.”
