SYNOPSIS:  “Krakow 1585, Dr John Dee, the Elizabethan Alchemist, and his assistant Edward Kelley have been summoned by the King of Poland to help save his dying niece, The Countess Elisabeth Bathory.

They soon find themselves in mortal danger, lost in the world of Revenants ‘souls that are held back from heaven by sorcery’, and are forced to use their own science to help save the Countess’s life and then their own.

In 2010, the body of a young girl is discovered on a train with no clues as to what has killed her, but numerous symbols are drawn onto her body.  Professor Guichard is called in to decipher them and recognises them as the sigils used by Dr Dee.  Meanwhile Jackdaw Hammond, practitioner and purveyor of occult materials is doing deals with the wrong crowd, while trying to save the lives of innocent girls.   What part does she play in this?”
