A UK paperback edition from 1936 (stated 5th impression) in very good condition for its age. The title was originally published in May 1934
Age tanning to pages. Slight slant to spine which also has reading creases. The covers are showing signs of wear to the extremities: rubbed/chipped at edges and at base of spine. They are also rather grubby. Light diagonal crease across the top right-hand corner of the front cover and a small crease at the bottom. Tiny crease across the top left-hand corner of rear cover and another running from the spine to the lower edge. At the top of the very last page (advertising page) someone has written nearly -E-T-M-.
SYNOPSIS: “When wealthy financier Sir Gerald Uppingham is found dead, poisoned by prussic acid, in his locked country estate study, Inspector Hanslet is baffled by the case, which leads him to call upon Dr Priestley to solve the impossible-seeming murder.
The investigation focuses on the business partners who were guests the previous evening, and Dr Priestley must use his deductive reasoning to unravel how the crime was committed and identify the killer.”
