Comments & Further Information

This is a first printing of the Sphere Books edition.  In very good condition condition for its age. Heavy age tanning to pages but the book remains eminently readable.  The covers are showing some signs of wear to the extremities; some tanning to the inside of the covers.  A very small crease at the top right-hand corner of the front cover and a reading crease on front cover adjacent to the spine.

SYNOPSIS:  “THE PAIN PEDDLERS… A television company pays an old man’s relatives $15,000 for rights to televise the amputation of a gangrenous leg – without anaesthetic.

TO SEE THE INVISIBLE MAN is a crime itself punishable by invisibility in a society where social deviants are sentenced to be totally ignored by their fellow men.

These are only two of the ten brilliant visions of the future created by Robert Silverberg to parody the cant and cruelty of our own world.

The stories are:  *The Pain Peddlers;  *Passport to Sirius;  *Birds of a Feather; *There Was an Old Woman -;  *The Shadow of Wings;  *Absolutely Inflexible;  *His Brother’s Weeper;  *The Sixth Palace;  *To See the Invisible Man;  *The Iron Chancellor.”
