This is a B format (130 x 198 mm) paperback in very good condition for its age, but is showing signs of wear.  Reading creases to spine and the covers are a little grubby.  Some tanning to pages.  Edited by Peter Haining.

SYNOPSIS:   “Charles Dickens was a pioneer of detective fiction and Hunted Down assembles a fascinating selection of his work in which the men of the law make their mark. Their working methods were based on his observations of the fledgling police detective force when he was a solicitor’s clerk and reporter and witnessed the workings of police stations and accompanied detectives on their nightly street patrols in London; he also attended court and was present at murder trials and public executions.”
