Comments & Further Information

First UK edition hardback in very good condition for its age.  Age tanning to pages making them rather brown but still eminently readable.  Bumped at head and tail of book spine.  The titles to the spine are nice and bright.  The dust jacket is complete, still shows the price but is showing some signs of wear.  Some chips to the edges.   The debut novel from National Hunt Jockey, John Francome written with James MacGregor.

SYNOPSIS:  “To Sir Denby Croft, Senior Steward of the Jockey Club, the disciplining of a trainer and jockey for “pulling” a race was simply all in a day’s work. They protested their innocence, but then they would, wouldn’t they? But things began to go wrong for Sir Denby that very afternoon; blackmail – and at a man’s own club! And shortly thereafter, there was a brutal murder at the races. And a cloud of corruption, suspicion and violence threatened to overwhelm the National Hunt Season.”
