A first UK edition paperback which has had a hard life. Pan G335. Unabridged. (Originally published in hardback in 1958 by Jonathan Cape).
Very heavy age tanning to pages making them very brown but still eminently readable. Small tear at the top of the first two pages of the book. The book is tightly bound but (I originally thought) the front and rear endpapers had some tape on them, but I think it’s more that they have parted company a little from the cover (been opened too far?). Previous owner’s name written on first page. The spine is slanted and chipped. The covers are generally grubby and the front cover is quite badly creased; the rear cover less so.
SYNOPSIS: “James Bond is on a shabby little assignment in Jamaica – a holiday and a convalescence. The sun shines, the palm trees wave, the calypsos throb.
But on the horizon lies Crab Key, an island fortress. It is the residence of Dr No whose prescription for Bond is one long, calculated dose of torture… and death.”
