SYNOPSIS: “Dhoula Bel has long been considered the great “lost novel” of Paschal Beverly Randolph, who was one of the greatest of all occult authors. Though the novel, very likely, was never actually published in book form, it did appear, under the byline “The Rosicrucian,” in the weekly paper The Spiritual Age, in nine instalments, published between December 1859 and February 1860.
This volume brings together the entirety of the serial, and though the novel is in an unfinished state, it is the longest work of fiction ever published by Randolph.
Scholarly afterword by Brendan Connell and four highly interesting appendices which revolve around Dhoula Bel and some of the background to its composition.
AN IMPORTANT NOTE FROM THE PUBLISHER: There seems to be a misunderstanding because Gustave Meyrink published a book of Randolph’s translated into German, with the title “Dhoula Bel.” That book IS NOT DHOULA BEL, but a translation of the novel “Ravalette”. The reason he named it that is probably because the character reoccurs in that novel. But, as far as we know, “Dhoula Bel” has never before appeared in book form in any language.”
