This is a first UK edition paperback. #245C in the White Circle Crime Club series. The title was first published in 1943 in hardback. The covers, which are generally grubby, are showing signs of wear. There are numerous chips/rubbing along the spine edges. Indentation on the front cover just under the A of A White Circle which carries through onto the first couple of pages . All four corners of the covers have light creases across them. Price sticker has been affixed to the front cover. Age tanning to pages making them very brown but still eminently readable. The last couple of pages are starting to become detached from the text block. The photos make the tanning look lighter than it actually is.
A Dr Priestley novel.
SYNOPSIS: It was Mr Maberley, the fussy little station master at Filmerham, who made the discovery, and immediately the well-ordered routine of his little world was entirely upset.
The finding of the body on the railway meant an inquest, the calling in of the police and a tremendous sensation when it became known that murder was suspected. In fact the case rapidly grew in importance for here was a mystery that challenged the formidable powers of Superintendent Hanslet and the redoubtable Dr Priestley.”
