Comments & Further Information

First UK edition with a full 1 to 10 number sequence indicating a first printing.  In very nice condition for its age.  Some light tanning to pages.  The dust jacket is complete and still shows the price.   It is clean and tidy.

The first volume in the Egyptian Mysteries series. Gill does for the age of Tutankhamun what Ellis Peters did for the Middle Ages.

SYNOPSIS:  “For Huy the Scribe these are difficult times. The death of the reformist King Akhenaten means that those like Huy who subscribed to his visionary philosophy now face danger, even death, from those who seek to restore Egypt’s old regime. Huy has no job, precious little money, and suffers the unwelcome attentions of the dreaded secret police, the Medjays. A chance encounter with Amotju, an old friend who owns a shipping line changes things – he seems to have stumbled on a tomb-robbing operation and has received death threats. Would Huy care to investigate. And so begins the career of the world’s first private eye!”
