This is a first UK edition trade-paperback sized booklet (148 x 210mm) with card covers. Comes complete with the publisher’s review slip.
Described as very good only because the bottom corner of the booklet has been bent – possibly in transit – so the covers and all the pages have a diagonal crease across them.
SYNOPSIS: “The booklet was produced for Confabulation, the 1995 British National SF Convention. The talks collected in this volume were given at 10 conventions from 1974 to 1988. For those of you who have not heard one of Bob Shaw’s Serious Scientific Talks you might be wondering why we think it’s appropriate to preserve them in this manner – those of you who have will be in no doubt.
My first SF convention was Seacon 84 and I was told in no uncertain terms that I would have to attend the Bob Shaw talk. I was dubious as I’d never been interested in serious scientific talks. What I had failed to realise was that this was not a serious scientific talk, but a Serious Scientific Talk. I laughed so much my sides hurt…. or perhaps that was the beer!”
