Comments & Further Information

First UK edition hardback in very good condition for its age.  Minor bump at head and tail of book spine. Tanning to pages making them quite brown, but the book remains eminently readable.   The dust jacket is complete and still shows the price.

A Chief Inspector Lyle mystery.

SYNOPSIS:  “Chief Constable Gilliant has suggested to Chief Inspector Lyle that he apply for a Detective-Superintendentship of Lessford.  Gilliant’s motive behind this is revealed to Lyle when he has secured the post:  a spate of undetected gangland killings has made Gilliant certain there is a traitor on his force.

From his first day at Lessford, Lyle realises that Gilliant’s instinct is right; only the identity of the rotten apple is obscured by other corruptions and a deep distrust of the new man.  The only way for the truth is for Lyle to expose himself as corrupt.”
