Comments & Further Information

A first UK edition hardback in very good condition for its age but is definitely showing its age.  Lacks a dust jacket.  Bumped at head and tail of book spine and at bottom corners of the boards (which are also rubbed).  Spine sunned (which continues onto the rear board), faded and generally grubby.  Tanning to pages and some foxing to leading edges, not affecting page faces.

E C R Lorac is the pen name of Edith Caroline Rivett who also wrote as Carol Carnac.

SYNOPSIS:  “When Susan Ferriby, lately demobbed from the A.T.S. was offered a job out of the blue by a charming woman in a Regent Street cafe, she thought that she’d better take her friend Patricia O’Malley along with her – just to make sure!  As Pat said, “A couple of tough lassies is nobody’s idea of a walk-over.”  For all that, they did walk into a pretty grim web, and it was just as well that Inspector Macdonald was at hand to track down and corner the spider.”
