This is a first US edition from 1930 which lacks a dust jacket. The book was published as Pinehurst in the UK. The book lacks a dust jacket. In good condition for its age.
Stamped on the front pastedown is “Read-A-Book Library”. Rough cut edges to pages (common in US titles). Nicks to edges of the first 25 pages at leading edge. Quite heavy age tanning to pages. The pastedowns are extremely tanned.
Previous owner’s signature on title page and a tiny bookstore sticker. On the reverse of the title page someone has scribbled something in pencil rather heavily which at some point has been rubbed out but the indentation of the scribble is still here.
Bumped at head and tail of book spine and to all four corners of the boards. Some damage to the top of the book spine. The boards are grubby and stained; spine faded and also the top edge of the front board. PLEASE NOTE: The photos make the boards appear brighter and cleaner than they actually are and the pastedowns less tanned than they actually are.
SYNOPSIS: “Superintendent King has concluded that the drunk driver with a dead body in his car was only guilty of manslaughter, not intentional murder. But Dr. Lancelot Priestley thinks there’s more to the story—especially considering that the victim’s estate, Pinehurst, has been plagued by burglaries of late.”
