A first UK edition hardback in very good condition for its age. Tanning to pages. Bumped at head and tail of book spine. Small piece of rear paste-down has become detached and attached itself to page opposite. The un-priced dust jacket is complete but has some creasing at the top edge of rear panel.
SYNOPSIS: “Acquitted by a jury of a crime he did not commit, Charles Ryder is nevertheless found guilty by his wife, his children and his superior in his job: or at any rate they do not find him wholly innocent as the twelve strangers had done. Ryder is shocked and desperate. But the last accusation to be directed at him – something this time far more serious – causes him to fight back and then disappear.”
