Comments & Further Information

This is a book club edition from circa 1959. In good condition for its age. Previous owner’s name on front pastedown. Head and foot of book spine bumped. The pale blue boards are rubbed at the edges and there is a small stain on the bottom right hand corner of the front board and the bottom left hand corner of the rear board. Light tanning. The dust jacket is grubby but complete. The rear panel is especially grubby and there are chips and a few nicks. Some staining and foxing to the interior of the dust jacket. SYNOPSIS: “Pop Larkin and his handsome faily of seven (all born without benefit of clergy) step outside their rural paradise for an excursion into another world. Armed with plenty of tax-free cash, their Rolls-Royce and little French, they take their first holiday abroad. Their intensely English but wholly unconventional reactions to life in France, especially its ideas on love and food, are in that same vein of slightly Rabelaisian picaresque slap-stick that delighted readers of the Darling Buds of May.” IN STOCK FOR IMMEDIATE DESPATCH
