Description: Hardback, Very Good condition
Dust Jacket: Very Good
Comment: We do not normally list ex library books for sale. In this instance, considering its origins, this is quite a nice copy of a Mrs Bradley novel. There are faults (as with most ex library books): there is a stamp on the front pastedown. The lending sheet has been sympathetically removed but has left a small amount of residue and the edge of a stamp. The publication details page has a printed label for Rutland County Council. There are no other stamps in this book. A few pages have small faint stains and page 144 has a larger stain two inches long to the edge of the page. None of the staining affects the reading of the text. The pages are otherwise clean and bright throughout the book. The spine slants slightly but the dustjacket is in rather nice condition with no tears or creases and still shows the price. This book is not being sold as a collector's item but as a sound reading copy.

Title: Hangman's Curfew
Author: Gladys MITCHELL
Publisher: Minnow Press
Published: 2010
Edition: First (Thus)
Description: Hardback, Mint condition
Dust Jacket: Mint
Comment: Book 4 in the Mrs Bradley Collector's series, this is a first edition first printing of Hangman's Curse by the excellent small press publisher, Minnow Press. Originally published in 1941 by Michael Joseph, this is one of the more difficult to find titles so this new version from Minnow is particularly welcome. Mint and unread with price still on dustjacket. "Mrs Bradley's niece-by-courtesy, Gillian, is instructed to embark upon a walking holiday as rehabilitation after a failed romance. Once alone, amidst the Border castles, colourful heather, and wild moors of Northumberland, Gillian not only succeeds in forgetting all about her past love, but also manages to stumble across an intriguing mystery. Mrs Bradley finds herself drawn into the puzzle - but by chance or design, she cannot decide - and is forced to pit her considerable wits against as ruthless and unscrupulous an adversary as she has ever encountered." Title: Death and the Maiden
Author: Gladys MITCHELL
Publisher: Vintage

Edition: Re-issue
Description: Softback, Very Good condition
Dust Jacket: No dustjacket
Comment: Published by Vintage in 2010 with a full 1 to 10 number sequence indicating a first printing of the Vintage edition. (The book was originally published in 1947 by Michael Joseph). There are reading creases to the spine and down the covers adjacent to the spine and there is a crease across three of the corners of the covers. A Mrs Bradley novel "When the former Banana-grower Edris Tidson hears of a possible sighting of a water-naiad he insists that his wife, her aunt Prissie and Prissie's young ward Connie, travel with him to Winchester in search of the nymph. As tensions rise between Connie and Edris, Prissie invites part-time Freudian Mrs Bradley to join them to unofficially observe Edris and his growing obsession. Then two young boys are found drowned and speculation mounts that the naiad is luring them to their deaths. Can Mrs Bradley unravel the mysteries hidden within the river?"
